① Melting-point-controlled Ice chips
Our ice machine produces special ice chips that maintain fixed temperatures below 0°C for long periods of time (Pat.).
Close-to-Freezing Temperature Ice Chips
This ice machine can produce ice chips that maintain fixed temperatures close to the freezing points of fresh fishes and shellfishes (Table 1). These close-to-freezing point ice chips offer the best means of preserving the freshness of the fresh fishes and shellfishes and enabling long-term transportation (overseas and to distant locations) with the following advantages:
1. Temperature Properties
These ice chips maintain fixed temperatures close the freezing points of the fresh fishes and shellfishes (FFSs).
a) Kill bacterias and significantly inhibit bacteria growths, preventing spoilage.
b) Inhibit the denaturation of proteins and lipids (tastes, flavors, and color tones) caused by enzymes and oxidation.
c) Do not cause cell damage due to freezing.
2. Transportation Properties
These ice chips maintain fixed temperatures in the cooling box during long-term transportation, such as overseas.
In contrast, using large and small coolers for the FFSs transportation makes it difficult to maintain consistent temperatures inside the coolers due to temperature distribution, time variation, and the accuracy limit of thermometers (for temperature control). Additionally, using the coolers for transportation increases the transportation costs.
3. Melt Properties
a) These ice chips are solid form.
- Compared to sherbet ices (liquid state), the proportion of ice (solid) in the ice-liquid mixture is increased several times, maintaining the fixed temperatures for longer periods.
- Being in solid states, the melting rate due to vibrations during transportation is slower.
b) These ice chips are flat shape.
- The layer formed by the ice chips creates an insulating layer, slowing down the melting rate.
4. Hardness Properties
The ice chips can be made soft. Soft ice chips do not damage the FFSs.
5. Ice Machine Characteristics

- Quickly adapts to different FFS types with different freezing points.
b) Operability and cost
- Easy operation, continuous production, and low initial cost.
c) Mountable on Vehicles or Ships
- Easy to move to necessary locations.
